Industrial goods and services

Sweden has a long tradition of innovative and successful export companies of industrial goods and services, primarily in the high value-added segments. The sector account for 20% of the country’s gross domestic product, employs over one million people and constitute 77% of the total value of Swedish exports.

Despite historical prosperity, global competition is higher than ever, and pace of technology development and globalization are the primary drivers of competitiveness. Europe is overall falling behind our competitors in some major fields. We have an investment gap in terms of productivity and research and development of new technology compared to other parts of the world.

Innovation overall, and more specific digitalization, trend awareness, sustainable operations and business models and short time-to-market are key areas to increased competitiveness in Sweden and Europe.
